Asus ROG Ally

Asus ROG Ally

Device notes

Best for

Portable high-end emulation with straightforward controller mapping and a single-boot gaming flow.

Notes

  • Pick a balanced performance profile for cooler temps and longer sessions.
  • External docks work best when USB-C power delivery is stable.

Known issues

  • Battery life varies widely under heavier workloads.
  • USB-C hubs can be finicky, so test your dock early.

Installation

  1. Download. Get the latest Asus ROG Ally image from the downloads page or the wiki.
  2. Flash. Write the image to an SD card or SSD using balenaEtcher, Raspberry Pi Imager, or dd.
  3. Boot. Insert the media, power on. REG Linux expands the filesystem on first boot. Pair your controllers when prompted.
  4. Rescue. If something goes wrong, reboot into rescue mode — your games are always safe on a separate partition.
